The debate "book versus television" has become a hot favourite in the past few years. With television being more informative these days the debate seems to inclined a little bit towards the side of television. Yet I am a strong believer that books can never be replaced by ant form of technology, be it the television or the internet. Television does impart a lot of knowledge through news channels, knowledge tv channels like Discovery and Nation Geographic but a replacement for books? No chance.
Just imagine you have submit a paper tomorrow to your fluid mechanics professor on turbulent wind flow. Where would you go to your university library or to sit in from of a television. No television channel or show is going to provide you any knowledge about wind flow patterns at your will. And even if you are fortunate enough to stumble upon a TV show on any of the science channels on the topic it wont be wast enough for you to satisfy your professor.
Watching something on television is way more attractive because of all the graphics and audio a TV offers in comparison to the arduous task of reading a boring book. TV can certainly help in understanding the basics of a topic but it never be compared with plethora of knowledge a book has to offer. You want also be using any of your grey cells if you are spoon fed everything in such an easy way. Hence to become an erudite there is no way you can skip a book.Read more
