Everyday university education is being more and more valued. Some people think that the opportunity of getting this level of academia shouldn´t be open to everyone. In my opinion, college education should be available to all students. I feel this way for two main reasons, which I will support in the following essay.
First, some students that get bad grades in high school get really good ones in college. In school, children, adolescents and young adults are not mature enough to understand the importance of their education. Most of them just study because they are being forced by their parents. When they get to university, they are more focused and understand the relevante of what they´re doing, thus they improve their performance. For example, I have a friend that when we were in high school, he got copies from my notebook every month to read them before the test because he didn´t even got his own in class. His grades were really low back then. However, he is now in medical school in my country, and has one of the highest GPAs of his class. If he wouldn´t have had the opportunity to go to college, it would´ve been a mistake since he will be an excellent professional.
Second, some students can get bad grades but are really talented in other areas. Some people are just not good with numbers, or maybe the school´s teaching style didn´t fit their learning style. It could be that someone wasn´t good with chemistry, but has many other skills. For instance, my cousin Laura wasn´t an excelent student in school. She got bad grades in the “important” courses. Nonetheless, she has great language skills which gave her the chance to get a prestigious position at a hotel. She is now studying Hotel Administration and is doing very good.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that college education should be open to all students. This is because the grades that you get in high school don´t determine how you will do in university, and because if a student gets bad grades it doesn´t mean he isn´t talented in other areas, that he could develop in an especific career in university.
