At the moment we walk into a new company, the first greeting we get is mostly from a colleague sitting beside us. Unlike other staff in the workforce, our co-workers are the most intimate people during our whole career. In my opinion, I wish I can have a colleague with following characteristics which will allows me to enjoy the time in work.
Number one, I would like to work with people who pay real respect on me. My optimal colleague does not need to agree with me in every aspect, but I would be glad to accept his opposition after he can listen to my opinion. For example, I never am a close friend of Howard who is my co-worker during my part time job while we have a different concept on doing our works. However I still like to work with him since we always use discussion to replace the possible fight.
Beside, an ardent characteristic is also being welcome in the workforce. We all need some helps sometime and it would be a pleasure if the person sit next to us can give us a hand before we ask. Even it is just a single movement like passing a stapler, it can become a touching feeling that someone will get your back.
Furthermore, sharing a same ideal is also important for the relationship between co-workers. Like finishing a difficult project with an approaching deadline, we can become more than colleagues sitting beside but a temporary spiritual partnership. We will share both happiness and frustration then increase our efficiency to prepare for the next mission.
At last, we all like our colleague become an optimal person as we wish. However it is hard to control other people or ask them to change. Comparing with making hope, we can become the optimal co-worker for others and help the workforce become a place that every staff likes to stay.Read more
