University students should be required to attend classes

This question is about whether I agree with the idea that university students should be required to attend classes. In Japan, where I live currently, many people think that university students do not need to attend classes recently. However, I strongly believe that university students should be required to attend classes. To give the most rational explanation to my answer, I will present several clear reasons and examples through my experience below.

First of all, university students can get the chance to communicate with others, and they can learn more through the experience. For example, when I was a junior in the University of Tokyo, in Japan, I took an English writing class. The professor did not require us to attend the class, but I attended all the classes. My best friend, Taro, also took the class. He was very good at English because he had lived in America when he was in elementary school. After the class, he always helped me to understand the lecture. If I had not attended the class and Taro had not help me, I could not write English sentences well now. As the example above shows, university students can learn more by attending classes.

In addition, university students feel motivated to study if they go to classes. Referring to the above example, Taro was a very diligent student. He studied the hardest in the class while he already had great English skills. It was because he had the dream to go back to America and to work there as a lawyer. When I heard his dream, I also decided to study harder. I was not good at English, but I believed that I came to be good at English through continuous effort. Through this experience, I also have a dream to go to America to get an MBA now. As the example above illustrates, university students come to study hard by going to classes.

In conclusion, for the reasons I mentioned above, I definitely believe that university students should be required to attend classes.
