University is an ideal place to learn. As we know, the university offers many classes including compulsory and optional classes. Some people insist that all the classes should be optional for students while in my point of view university students should be required to attend classes.
The curriculum in the university are logically design, it formed an advanced educational system during many years. The knowledge tought in the required classes is comprehensive, it enable the students to know more about the world and teach them how to make a living after entering the society. However, some students do not understand the intent of that classes, they prefer to attend classes as they like. Give an example, a student who like drawing will probably attend art classes only, so he can not acquire other knowledge. If the student just attend the classes they intend to, it will obstruct the general develop of a university student.
Another equally important aspect is that requiring the students to attend classes will inpel them to obey the rules. If attendance is taken in class, students will not skip classes and go to do other useless things. Inmagine that the students can attend classes as they like, many of them must so their own things instead of listening to the necessary classes. It do harm to build up the discipline of the university.
Although optional classes should be encourage in university, it must be limited. Optional classes show the flexibility of choosing what to learn, but I believe that required classes are the most important role in learning and teaching in university. It guarantee the quality of the university education.
