TOEFL Essay Topic 105 - Students at universities often have a choice of places to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference.
Most of the University has their own housing facility. The choice depend upon the students, whether to stay in
college hostel or in community apartment. As far as I am concerned, the university dormitories will be best place to stay,
because of these three reasons. They are safer, accessible and cheaper compare to housing facility outside the campus area.
At first, most of the college hostel are located inside the campus area. There will be security guard
and all the premises will be under the camera. Most of the crime are related to alcohol intoxication,
and liquor shop are strictly prohibited around colleges. This will not only reduce the alcohol intake by students but also
prevent students involving in crime with non academic people as well as their mates.
Secondly, life in dormitory save both time as well as money. For example, My friend James drives from New Jersey to college
for his classes. He spends more than 4 hour on driving. On top of that, he has to pay $20 as toll during entry and exist to New york.
This prove that staying in dome available in university saves both time and money.
Last but not least, it also provide facility of Library as well as breakfast. Studying in library will be more comfortable
for student staying inside rather than outside. The library hour is fixed for student who are staying outside.
Library can be used at any time for students who are staying in hostel Student who are staying in apartment should concern about their time. They
have to save some part of time for travel. Canteen cab be used by student who are staying in dormitory only.
I want to sum up that, that will be more freedom staying in community apartment.
But prime factor like time, money and special library facility of students staying in dormitory will not replace the freedom of outsiders.
