Some people may state otherwise. However, I strongly believe that watching television is not necessarily bad for children. I would like to explain detailed reasons in the following paragraphs.
First and foremost, watching television programs, especially educational programs can dramatically promote children success and growth. Watching television does usually good to children in gazing the television programs intended to urge children to gain knowledge or to grow physically better. They are able to watch and touch interesting things what they cannot see in their daily life, which will stimulate children’s imagination and interest in diverse things. Some people may argue that there are only a few television programs which are good for children’s healthy growth. I can contradict this statement completely. Not only is the quality of children-oriented programs highly evaluated today, the quantity of them is large too. For example, in my community, we can see various kinds of the children-oriented TV show. Most of them have a technical advisor of themselves, who is the specialist, including a professor at a college or a famous novelist. Therefore, the reputation of the programs is very good. Also, children are able to select varieties of the programs all time.
Secondly, television is a handy tool for children to obtain a lot of information concerned with the world. It is a little difficult for most children to read a newspaper, which includes plenty of unknown words or complicated descriptions. On the other hand, television, that provides information in a more understandable way, is a useful information resource for them. For example, when I was a junior high school student, I used to gain information about my homework through television. We were assigned a homework to look up a world news everyday. As it took a lot of time for me to look over a newspaper which contained plentiful unknown words, I utilized television news every morning. Since the news was well-organized and ranged to many topics, I could easily pick up a topic from it. As can be seen from this example, television is a useful tool for children when they have to collect information.
In conclusion, I am opposed to the statement that television does harm to children. It has diverse programs for children and they can have access to important information from it.Read more
