Teenager and decision

It is quite obvious that most parents want the best for their children and therefore tend to influence them as long as possible. Since each of us was a child before we were facing this situation many times and know quite good how we tried to convinced our parents for our own ways. However this sometimes results into long discussions where at the end the parents decide what to do. After passing all these experiences as my parent’s child on the one hand and raising my own child today on the other, I generally agree to this statement.
Following reasons support my opinion for this.

I think teenagers even though in the age of 15 or 18 are still youngsters with limited life experiences. Sometimes they are facing with problems and questions where the decision may have an impact to their future life. Thus, it is important for parents to understand the problem of their children and advise them appropriately. Sometimes it is only the way of communication. Parents must be aware that in this age children prefer to be free and make their own way. So any advices that come in a sound of a command will obviously cause resistant reactions. If parents understand and know how to talk with their children this would solve one big part of the whole issue.

Nevertheless I do not think that parents should influence or make the decision for their teenage children. It is imperative for an adolescent to make solve their own problems. A successful decision that leads to a positive result is a big step for a teenager to become an adult. On the other hand, a wrong decision helps to earn important experiences that are important a well.

All in all I agree to the statement but would like to express that adults should give their adolescent some room for making their own decision. Sometimes it is better to observe carefully from a distance and react only if it is really necessary.
