"For the past decade, most health experts have advised teenagers to avoid eating greasy foods in order to prevent acne and related skin conditions, but the number of teenagers who sought medical help for these skin problems has actually risen over the same period. In a recent study, teenagers who avoided greasy foods for a month reported approximately as many outbreaks of acne and related skin conditions as did those who ate an average of two servings of greasy food per day. Such data indicate that eating greasy foods is unlikely to be a cause of acne and related skin conditions. Therefore, health experts should no longer recommend that people avoid such foods. " Discuss how well reasoned you find this argument.
Teenage acne rising
The author in the argument above is discussing about the teenage acne rising over the period of time.He states that,despite of avoiding greasy food, the problem did not get any better.He further states the data of those lowering greasy food, to those who did not ,for a time frame of one month, showing as such no improvement.So,he assumes that lowering greasy food has no impact on skin issues and acne.
I do not find this claim to be logically relevant.Here is how I portrait my opinion about this matter.
Healthy skin is a manifestation of a healthy body.Our body is a machine ,in which everything works together in one system.If we do not put effort in making our lifestyles healthier then we should not expect it to function at its best.Essentially,our balanced diet with proper nutrients and exercise regime holds great importance.Eating greasy and junk food, not only slows our metabolism, imbalances hormones to much more,it does cause acne too.
Further more author has mentioned the data results of individuals avoiding greasy food over a time of just a month, which does not seem fair.Healthy lifestyle takes its time to show its benefits over long term.It is recommended to follow healthy lifestyle not just for a month but for good.Not only it will lessen acne issues, it will prevent bigger diseases and much more.
Imbalanced hormons are a one of the most common cause of acne in teenagers,If a healthy diet with variety of fruits, vegetables,protiens and water is taken on a long term basis, it will reflect in our overall goodness, including radiant skin.
Greasy food has nothing but fats and sugars which cause retards our body mechanisms, depriving it from nutrients that are needed.Teenagers should be encouraged to eat healthy and avoid greasy and junk food.Healthy body is the basis of our overall goodness.
