Nowadays, most people think that technology has forced children to think less creatively than in the past. However, It is my firm belief that I am not supposed that technology has robbed children of creativity. I feel this way for reasons, which I will explore for the following essay.
First and foremost, to be sure, technology has deprived children of something by which they enhanced their creativity in the past. Generally speaking, children used to play alone such as assemble LEGO blocks, draw pictures, or concentrate on thinking deeply about study tasks in a summer period, which allows children to nurture their imagination. By contrast, technology has depleted these kinds of things above. In this day and age, it takes lots of time for children to watch Youtube alone or to get in contact with other students via Whatsapp. I personally feel that these new technologies has deprived children of their about three hours per day.
Though participating in these activities reduce their time to foster their creativity, does it truly mean that children are losing their imagination? I am not supposed to do so. I individually feel that these activities has robbed them of time of bringing up certain amount of creativity, but new activities replacing them will be increasing our sense of creativity oriented in 21st century. Creativity usually starts to resemble something interesting we feel, strengthens our own portrait, and applies it to other things. I will take an example of children who like to watch Youtube channel. These days, the most popular occupation among children is said to be a youtuber who posts movies on Youtube and earns his or her living expenses. This sincerely means that children realize that Youtube seem amazing and they are eager to take part in this activity, therefore a youtuber is the best occupation among children. Will the action itself that most children watch Youtube, look alike youtubers, and post their works on Youtube be considered as fostering a sense of imagination among children?
Furthermore, I already mentioned the illustration of Youtube above, and posting Facebook or Instagram itself is also engaged in children’s sense of beauty and preference. Not doing activities in the past for children to bring up their creativity does not directly lead to the lack of their imagination, and in addition, in my view children these days have more time and chance to bring up their creativity.
Therefore, I personally think that technology has made children more creative than they were in the past, because children acquire more time and chance to be imaginative instead of losing something to strengthen their imagination.Read more
