Teachers should not make their social or political views known to students

Some people think that it is good activity for students that teachers talk about social or political views in the classroom while others disagree. If asked, both groups will provide compelling reasons to substantiate their stances. However, in my opinion, I believe that teachers should not make their social or political views known to students in the classroom. In this essay, I will present two reasons to support my view.

To begin with, student will lose a habit to think critically about social events by hearing teacher’s opinions. Teachers are important guide for students so they will easily believe that teacher’s idea are right. For example, when I was a high school student, my social science teacher used to express his negative opinion toward Japanese government policy. I knew that he was well-educated and professional as a teacher by taking his lecture so I never doubt his opinion was inappropriate. So, I didn’t try to get another opinion and information by myself. However, when I talked with my older brother who works for the ministry of education in Japan, he said that present prime minister provided several good policy to enhance nationwide economy. My brother gave me a specific action by government directed and its results showing relating news. After heard a story from my brother, I finally realized that the prime minister is a competent politician and there are a lot of supporters for him. This example illustrates that student will lose a habit to think critically about social events by hearing teacher’s opinions.

Secondly, children will success academically if their teachers focus on general subjects. Talking about issues irrelevant to admission exam is a waste of time for students. The survey conducted by the ministry of education, science, sports and culture in Japan illustrated this point. Three years ago, Japanese officials investigated how curriculum of schools affects children’s grades. They gave this survey to all high schools in Tokyo and analyzed this result. What they found was that children who attended a high school focused on general subjects tend to pass renowned universities more than those who graduated from schools spend some time to make students sociable. This example shows that children will success academically if their teachers focus on general subjects.

In conclusion, for the reasons I mentioned above, I believe that teachers should not make their social or political views known to students in the classroom.
