IELTS Essay Topic 736 - It is more important for governments to ensure adequate standards of housing, education and health care for their citizens by developing the industrial base than to use their resources to develop the rural areas.
Supports from the Governments on Industrial Bases or Rural A
Since 1990s, governments over the world, for example, China and Thailand have kept developing industrial bases instead of rural areas, they take the initiatives in ensuring adequate standards of housing, education and health care for their citizens.
By developing industrials bases, offices and factories are established in this industrial area, such would provide employment opportunity for the citizens, workers would then demand for sufficient housings to avoid the traveling time from home to workplace. When adults move in the industrial area for work, their relatives also move in, governments (especially those who guarantee free education, such as, Hong Kong) need to ensure adequate study places for their next generations, it is unreasonable for students to take a long way to go to school everyday, in result, sufficient kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools should be built in the industrial areas. Moreover, the government should not neglect the importance of providing health care services for their citizens, especially in the industrial areas with workers who need to use machines everyday, with students in studying and with elderly in living.
However, instead of putting all resources to industrial base, governments should maintain a balance in providing sufficient supports to rural areas. Take Cheung Chau in Hong Kong as an example, Cheung Chau is an island, it has it’s own culture, festival and sight-seeing spots. Not only Hong Kong people but also foreigners visit Cheung Chau for leisure and enjoyment. If the Hong Kong government does not provide sufficient support especially in sponsoring its cultural activities, providing housing and health care services, as well as, in avoiding criminal cases, this rural area would not be so popular.
In conclusion, I support governments to make sure that adequate standards of housing, education and health care for their citizens by developing the industrial base, but at the same time, some of their resources should also be put for the rural areas.
