should children start to learn a foreign language once they

As a very famous slogan goes, ” Never lose on the scratch line. ” Nowadays many parents eager to make their children learn a foreign language at the same time they enter school. Is that right? Personally, I don’t think so. Is it too early? As a matter of fact, I think it’s a bit late. In my opinion, the best period for a kid to cultivate the ability of another language is right before school.

For one thing, the best way to learn another language is to do it naturally, just like how we master our native language. Forcing an immature child to face an alien language that he or she has never touched before will be a hard torture, therefore, we should try to combine the elements of foreign language with the environment so that children will get used to, learn it and use it spontaneously. This procedure might be discontinued after they enter school due to the incoherence of environment, so we should do it earlier.

Besides, being familiar with a strange thing takes time. Learning new things is like this, learning a new language is even. After kids start school, they won’t have so much time to get themselves familiar with the language. Parents ought to consequently cherish time when kids are able to learn and yet don’t need to go school and make good use of it.

All in all, people might suggest let the children learn a outlandish language a bit later, after they’re elder. Or support with the statement that they should do it as soon as entering the school. However, as far as I am concern, the earlier you learn it, the more chances you can use it. The best way to learn it is to have the proper environment and let it take shape naturally. Meanwhile, the perfect timing to provide the environment is the period before school. So, I disagree with the statement.
