Stronger laws are needed to protect new kinds of home-security systems from being copied and sold by imitatorsApril 10th, 2018
The passage concludes that stronger laws are needed to protect new kinds of home-security systems from being copied and sold by imitators. This statement is based on the following two facts:1)With such protection, manufacturers will naturally invest in the development of new home-security products and production technologies.2) Without such strong laws, manufacturers will cut back on investment ,as a result ,declining not only in product quality and marketability, but also in production efficiency, and thus ultimately a loss of manufacturing jobs in the industry. This conclusion sounds somewhat convincing, but after a quick but careful analysis, it is problematic in three aspects.

The author concludes that some of the city's funds for supporting the arts should be reallocated to public television. The argument is based on the following facts:1) In a recent citywide poll, 15 percent more residents said that they watch television programs about the visual art than was the case in a poll conducted five years ago. During these past five years, the number of people visiting our city's art museums has increased by a similar percentage.2)Since the corporate funding that supports public television, where most of the visual arts programs appear, is now being threatened with severe cuts, the attendance at city's art museums will also start to decrease. This statement sounds somewhat convincing, but after a quick but careful analysis.，it is problematic in three aspects.
