Hard work

March 23rd, 2018

Some people think that hard work is crucial to succeed on their duty while others consider that luck is the most important to achieve something. If asked, both sides would provide logical reasons to support their stances. Personally, I agree with the idea that people succeed because of hard work and luck has nothing to do with success.

Food stands near my living place

January 16th, 2018

In Japan, where I live, many people like to go to a restaurant. They visit there to enjoy a conversation with friends, to have delicious foods, or to eat meals quickly. Actually, it is very valuable for us to eat at a restaurant. Some of them hope that companies will build new eating place in the neighborhood. However, I definitely disagree with a plan to the facility near my living place for the following reasons. First of all, I don’t need a restaurant near my apartment. For example, my family usually prepare for our meals on our own. Cooking foods by ourselves helps us keep being healthy. My wife goes to the supermarket where it takes about five minutes to go from my apartment, and buys several ingredients. These includes vegetables and fruits which are very good for our health. The foods containing these materials contribute to my healthy life. Therefore, I typically don’t eat out very much. In addition, when I eat foods at the restaurant, I usually go to the eating place near my office with our colleagues because we don’t need to move away. Even if I have a great restaurant near my apartment, It would be very rare to visit there with my colleagues because they are living far from my living place and it is an inconvenient place for them. As the example above shows, building a new restaurant in my neighborhood is not necessary for my family. Secondly, opening a new restaurant possibly leads to an uncomfortable noise. For example, my friend from university, Takashi, is living in New York. He is living in the building which stands in the center of Manhattan. A few days ago, I talked with him at skype first time in five years. At that time, he was complaining about the new restaurant near his building, saying that many foreign visitors to New York was coming there, and drinking, talking, and making a serious noise until late. Because of this, he said that he couldn’t sleep very well every night. My family is currently living in one of biggest commuter towns in Tokyo. At night, it is very silent because there is no place for people to gather together, such as restaurants or pubs. Because of this situation, we feel comfortable about our life here now. However, if some restaurants are built near here, the environment of my neighborhood would be worse to live in. As the example above illustrates, a life in the neighborhood could be uncomfortable if the restaurant is built near the place. I am not saying that eating out is always bad. Of course, people need the restaurant somewhere, in order to enjoy a time with their friends or family. However, I definitely argue that food companies should make a new restaurant outside of my living place.

The benefits that people can have by living in the metropolitan area

January 9th, 2018

In Japan, where I live, many people who are living in a metropolitan city hope to move to the countryside. In a rural area, in general, people don't need to be busy on weekdays, and it is not loud during night like Manhattan. In addition, a national park that have a lot of trees and large lakes is usually near a living area, so the family goes there and enjoying fishing or walking in a nature together. They believe that they can have a better life in such a rural area. However, I definitely prefer to live in a large city to a small town for the following reasons.

Universities should invest in sports activities

January 9th, 2018

In Japan, where I live, many universities invest a lot of money in the development of a facility where students study such as libraries. On the other hand, the universities does not encourage student's sports activities as much as they do their facility. Actually there are few fans of university sports in Japan, so most of us watch the games just once or twice a year on television. However, I definitely think that universities should invest more their resources in student's sports activities for the following reasons.

January 9th, 2018

The primary position that is taken in the reading passage is that the government should ban LASIK surgery until some research can guarantee good results for patients. On the other hand, in the lecture, the professor argues that these laser eye surgery procedures are safe and effective.

Preparing your meal at home

January 9th, 2018

In Japan, where I live, some families eat their meals separately. Fathers go to eat a dinner with their colleagues after work. They can enjoy drinking alcohol and discuss about the project they are working on right now. Also, children love to visit a reasonable restaurant with their friends after school. All students have their own topics they can only speak to a close friend. However, I definitely believe that it is much better to have a meal at home than to have out for the following reasons.

Many benefits of building a new factory

January 5th, 2018

In Japan, where I live, many people generally hesitate to develop a new factory near their living places. They always say that the factory could pollute the environment, or crimes will increase. However, I definitely think that building a new factory will provide a lot of benefits to our community.
