Many big cities have their zoos in the center and the citizens are familiar with the place. Most of the citizens have visited their and watched animals with their families when they were children. However, there is no denying the fact that whether a zoo is useful or not is a popular topic which has caused heated debate over a long period of time. As far as I am concerned, I believe that a zoo has some practical purposes. I have several reasons to support my opinion. First and foremost, a zoo is an educational field for children. Children can watch real animals in a zoo. They can learn how big a real elephant is and what food a koala eats. It is true that children can look at an encyclopedia at home and learn about animals, but watching and touching some animals directly is a more precious experience which they cannot obtain except at a zoo. Second, a zoo can be a place for citizens to relax. People living in a city is really busy on weekdays and do not have enough time to rest. However, they can feel relaxed in mind if they go to a zoo on a fine Sunday and listen to birds singing. Time existing in a zoo is completely different from that outside the zoo and it might be fresh and comfortable for people living hastily every day. They can forget their works for a while and can do a better works from the next day. Third, a zoo is functioned as a place to research animals. Researchers can observe the behavior of animals all day and all night. Studying them is easier there than in the real habitat since the actual habitat is too wide. Some people are concerned about If researchers and keepers set a similar place as a real habitat, an animal show its printed behavior. In conclusion, I maintain that a zoo is a useful place. This is because children can learn about animals and people can relax their mind there.
