TOEFL Essay Topic 35 - Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Attending a live performance (for example, a play, concert, or sporting event) is more enjoyable than watching the same event on television. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
Many people take much more interest in attending a live performance such as a sporting event or a music concert rather than flopping down on a sofa and watching this event on television. To me, I fully endorse the topic for the points that will be discussed below.
The first point I would like to make is that powerful sound and lightening systems in a live performance are what make it full of joy; however, in home theater systems sounds and lights are limited. Let me illustrate this with a jazz concert which I took part before. It is only impossible to imagine that how hearing the live sounds and dancing in a full-of-light scene were pleasant to audiences and affected them.
The second point I would like to mention is that good atmosphere of live performances might be the chief reason that makes people more willing to attend. A familiar example to support this opinion is a sporting match in which successive groups of spectators briefly stand, yell, and raise their arms. The result is a wave called Mexican wave, and it gives both players and spectators a sense of delight.
The last point worth mentioning is that if you attend a live performance, you will have the chance to meet your favorite player, singer, or athletic whom you wish to see most. For instance, joining friends for Judas Priest band concert, watching them live on the scene, and taking a photo with them, all seem to be a big dream fulfilled for a heavy metal music lover.
In conclusion, I personally agree that taking part in a live event is much preferable to watching this event on TV due to the sound and lightening systems of a live event, the exciting atmosphere of it, and most importantly the chance given to you to see your favorite figure at a live performance.
