The Above statement avers how knowledge alters our perception of the world. I completely agree with this assertion. When we know how exactly a particular aspect of the world works, we can never look at it and see what we used to before. Let us examine a few examples that would illustrate the claim.
First, let us consider the field of medicine. Doctors undergo rigorous training during which they strive to learn as much as possible about how the human body works and the diseases that can afflict it. They learn so much about microbes and infections they cause that they start seeing germs everywhere. It turns them into germophobes and hypochondriacs. It prevents them from enjoying a meal at a restaurant as they would be worrying about the possible germs in the food and the ways of food poisoning.
Next lets consider the field of Psychology. The students of this discipline learn about the intricacies of the human mind, emotions and reactions. They read too much into gestures, words, expressions etc. It would be hard for them to enjoy a simple conversation without psycho analyzing the other party.
Next let us consider a Geologist, on vacation with friends in the great city of Sn Francisco. While his friends enjoy the golden gate bridge and other delights the city has to offer, he would keep worrying about the San Andreas fault line. Thus his knowledge regarding plate tectonics and earthquakes have completely altered his perception of the city.
Similarly, when we invite an architect or civil engineer home, he would be mentally calculating the sturdiness of the structure, how deep the foundations are etc. In this way his knowledge regarding building construction would lead to see buildings in a different way than the layman.
To summarize, the study of a particular can definitely alter the way we see the world. It may range from a minor change to a major one that turns into a social impediment. It differs from person to person. Ultimately it is upto us to decide whether we allow our knowledge in a particular discipline to change our vision so much that the world would never seem the same again,
