I disagree with the statement that says there is nothing we learn from the past.
History recurs. The event or an experience of a person may happen in somebody else’s life. The events of the past repeat themselves often in the present. Hence learning from the past empowers us with knowledge of how to solve the problems today. The past is very much linked with the present.
The historical events, the experiences and the ideas of the men of yore teach us to lead a better today. Man may be wise, intelligent, circumspect and prudent but he is incomplete if he does not equip with the knowledge of the past that is as to how his predecessor dealt with â€˜life’. The present is bettered past. Be it an achievement in life, business, politics, technology â€“ knowledge of what has happened in the corresponding field in yesteryears counts.
Wise man knows the vale of the past. One who meticulously considers the past experience emerge victorious because he rectifies his errors. Learning includes knowledge of the past. Experience, too, originates form the past builds the present and future too.
So one can not discard the valuable lessons of the past. If one did so, one would surely meet defeat.
