It may be true that some kind of educational way just suppresses our mind and spirit. In these days, our knowledge expands drastically in all subjects, and students have to spend a lot of time to memorize many facts, and in case, they are overwhelmed. However, I believe that good education give us a way to treat this information flood, and will set our mind free.
There may be a case for students to be suppressed their imagination and creativity, if they are just evaluated by how much they memorize things. Just to memorize things such as historical events or mathematical equations to get higher score in examinations keep them away from thinking by themselves. Now, no student could have enough time to memorize everything. If education was just emphasized too much, students just may just lose their ability to think by themselves.
However, it is also true that if we know more, we can have ability to judge things more objectively, and therefore, we can set our mind free from unreasonable social, political, or moral fetters. What is more, knowledge will be bases for a new idea to address current complicated problems. If someone`s opinion is based on narrow knowledge, new idea or philosophy to overcome current problem is hardly expected from him or her. On the contrary, if one has enough knowledge, they can find a clue to overcome the problem from this knowledge, and can easily find realistic solutions. The point is that a teacher should have eye to extract essential thins from the information flood and teach them to student.
In addition, we are tend to choose a lazy life, and therefore we are needed to be encouraged to memorize important knowledge about events in history, basic science, literature through educational period. Even though I cannot recognize the importance of these knowledge at that time, we will notice it and how these knowledge open our mind afterwards.
Finally, it is better to notice that education is not just memorize the facts but also develop our ability to analyze situation, address problem, and express opinion through discussion, research and so on. Our complicated society calls for us to have such education more.
In summary, it is my opinion that good education can give us essential knowledge and an ability to manage information rather than make us fettered by peripheral facts and useless genres.
