Nowadays, technology has been increasingly integral to our lives. Some people might believe that technology has made children less creative, whereas some people disagree. In my opinion, technology has made it easy for children to enhance their creativities from the following perspectives: the easy accesses to great arts and the easy ways of their expressions.
First of all, technology enables kids to access great historical and modern art works thought out the world more easily. For example, you can see many of the pictures of Picasso on the Internet even at your house, or you can listen to the music of Mozart with ease through streaming services even on the streets. These great works inspire children’s imaginations and nurture their creativities. Some people might say that referring to someone else’s arts could reduce children’s creativities, but I think that all creative works begin when people mimic someone else’s great work. For instance, I heard that Mr. Maekawa, who is one of the most famous painters in Japan, has established his particular art style through mimicking the feature of Picasso’s paintings and that he was able to learn the Picasso's style thanks to the Internet. This example evidently shows that easy access to great arts that technology enabled could strengthen children’s creativities.
Moreover, technology can be a platform for children to express their creativities. For example, they can draw their pictures using computer graphics technology, make their movies using a smartphone camera or make their music using virtual musical instruments on the computer. My favorite artist, Ms. Yokohama, who is one of the greatest artists in Japan, express her imagination through computer graphics. Her artwork is so fascinating that I feel as if I were in another world every time I look at her work. The technology of computer graphics makes it possible for her to create her amazing graphics for sure. If there weren't such techniques, she had to use traditional tools such as paint, brushes, and canvases, and her painting couldn’t be such a great thing. As this example effectively illustrates, there is no doubt that the use of technologies helps children express their imaginations and creativities.
In conclusion, I disagree with the statement that technology has made children less creative. It not only allows children can access greats arts that inspire them but also can be a platform for them to express their imaginations. Thus, I think we should encourage children to use these new technologies to strengthen their creativities.
