We spend a lot of time with our friends in school and our parents in our family. Both have significant impacts on our success. In this setting, the question at hand is which have a stronger impact on our success in school life, classmates or parents. I firmly believe that classmates contribute to our success in school because they tend to have knowledge we want to know and they share the same kind of experience.
First and foremost, our classmates help us with studying. They have greater and clearer understanding of what we learn in schools than our parents, which sometimes help us. For example, when I was in high school, my friend, Takashi, helped me solve a problem in our physics class. I sometimes didn’t understand what the physics teacher taught us and didn’t solve the question the teacher impose us for our homework. It was Takashi, who helped me in such situation because he was very good at physics. He explained how to deal with the assignment in a way that I was able to understand easily. As a result, I successfully got a high score on the term exam. If I had asked my parents, they would not have been able to answer my question because they had learned physic over 20 years ago. This example evidently portrays that our classmates are more likely to help us with our study because they are more likely to know the answer we would like to know.
Furthermore, our friend also helps us in mental aspect, because they tend to have the same kinds of problems and concerns. As you might know, in Japan, where I live, the competition to enter good universities is incredibly fierce. Since I was planning to enter the University of Tokyo, when I was in the third year of high school, I studied until midnight every day. One day, I was so exhausted that I was almost giving up to enter the university. However, that was when Satoshi, who was aiming to apply for the university too, encouraged me to study together. I got embolden by his energetic words and decided to continue to study hard. Six months later, both he and I successfully passed the entrance examination for the university. There is no doubt that our classmates support us to keep our health mental because they share same concerns and problems.
In conclusion, I agree with the statement, "Classmates are a more important influence than parents on a child’s success in school.” They not only help us study but also support to keep our mental health.
