Adoption of healthier lifestyle by citizens of Forsythe?
While it may be true that citizens of Forsythe have adopted healthier lifestyles, but author’s argument that citizens in eating habits conform more closely to government nutritional recommendations than they did ten years ago doesn’t make a concrete case. This author supports its conclusion with a survey and various not cited information which is rife with holes and assumptions.
Using the responses of citizens to a recent survey cited, the author tries to show that citizens of Forsythe in their eating habits conform more closely to government nutritional recommendations than they did ten years ago. Author’s argument doesn’t mention anything about the reliability or respondents of this recent survey, which is used as prime evidence to the change in eating habits of citizens of Forsythe. For all, we don’t know if the respondents are in thousands or millions and whether only health enthusiastic people are targeted. Also, the comparison of recent data to that of ten years ago is completely vague as their would been drastic changes in eating habits of citizens during such a long time which are unaccounted.
Additionally, the author without citing the source of the information states that there has been a fourfold increase in sales of food products containing kiran, a substance that a scientific study has shown reduces cholesterol. Though the information as well as the scientific study has many doubts about their reliability, to make any conclusion from them requires several specific details. The amount of reduction of cholesterol from food products containg kiran is one such detail, as the range could vary from a 0.001 to 99 percent.
The author implies reduction in sales of sulia, a food that few of the healthiest citizens regularly eat, to build upon his flagging conclusion. Again this statement is filled with assumptions as, while it maybe true that the healthiest citizens don’t regularly eat sulia, but it doesn’t infer that sulia is unhealthy as its not supported by any reliable scientific study. Reduction in sales of sulia could have various causes, their might be a shortage and overpricing in the market. Also, the parameter for classifying healthiest citizens isn’t defined. Regardless the author doesn’t show a concrete connection between adopting healthier lifestyle and reduction in sales of sulia.
While it is very important for citizens to adopt healthy lifestyle as it not only adds to capital of a state but also an effective ideology for a longer, happier life. However, this author’s argument, upon examining various factors fails to conclude whether the citizens of Forsythe are adopting a healthier lifestyle.
