TOEFL Essay Topic 44 - Some people like to travel with a companion. Other people prefer to travel alone. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
Travel with a companion or alone
It is a common belief that people should be mature enough to travel alone; otherwise, traveling with a group is suggested. However, I would strongly prefer to travel on my own under any circumstances for some reasons that will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
The first reason I would like to give is that speaking from experience, traveling alone provides an opportunity to stand for myself. In other words, it can stimulate my ability to solve problems, have confidence, and be independent. A good example to support my idea can be my unaccompanied backpack trips in which I learn how to become acclimatized to tough conditions such as sleeping in a tent, walking long distance, and eating mysterious-tasting foods.
In the second place, I found it quite irritating to travel in a company of people who I have nothing in common with. Let me illustrate this with an adventure trip you are going to experience for the first time. You are certainly inclined to explore your favorite spots, taste your favorite dishes, and stay at your preferred hotel, yet your companions might be opposed. And now what should you do? Go on or come back?
Finally, I tend to argue that accompanied trips mostly seem as not cheap as you expect to be. In these kind of trips, renting a suit, buying a great amount of groceries and taking the cab are what make your trip highly expensive to a great extent.
To wrap it up, I would like to say that I always have a great preference for traveling by myself and not in a company. Based on the personality developments, the reasonable cost and the various preferences people might have, I would be much better off going on a trip alone.
