TOEFL Essay Topic 105 - Students at universities often have a choice of places to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference.
living in university dormitories can let students have access to variety of facilities such has canteen. in addition to this living in university could avoid the risk of missing class and would save students a lot of time.
living in apartments in the community is not affordable to vast majority of students. beside a higher rent in compare to the students dormitory, when living in an apartment that is probably in a distant from university students have to also pay for the transportation. this in turn adds to the cost of living and also would cost them an amount of time in taking the transportation to university. in contrast to living in apartment in the community, living in student dormitory’s can save students money and time. in addition to this, when living in university dormitory students can have access to a lot of facilities provided by university, such as canteen, library, gym, etc. and would be sharing room with another student of different background and culture, in this way the students can learn from each other and get interacted with different people of different race and culture.
the advantages of living in university by far outweigh that of living in apartment in the community. living in apartment in the community could provide a bigger space, however in return it can students money and time which is very valuable.
