IELTS Essay Topic 1007 - Will modern technology, such as the internet ever replace the book or the written word as the main source of information?
Development of new technologies
Technology has changed everything, and has changed the quality of life of human beings. In this modern era, internet plays a vital role in providing more information rather than a book or the written word. Even though, I believe that Internet will be hard to replace the role of a book or the written word.
Internet is very helpful in getting many informations. But, the problem is that one has to search each and everything. To give a specific example, if one has to search a topic regarding myocardial infraction, Internet will provide the information regarding its definition, causes and symptoms. But, clinical management and other preventive measures have to search again. In case of books, the writers include each and everything regarding that particular topic. So, readers can stick on to that book instead of roaming around. This, people depend more on books.
Both internet and book provides information. For the academic performances, informations given in the book are more reliable for the students than the internet. Moreover , all people are not rich enough to have an Internet facility. So, many people depend on hand written notes. For instance, if a student is searching any topic for his research purposes, he has to print the copy of those content that he searched out.The money that he spent for searching the content and for taking print will be more than that of buying a single book which also has the same content.
To conclude, the informations available in the books are always a written evidences.New technologies like Internet can never replace the role of a book or written notes.
