Congestion is a big problem in modern cities. Some people argue that increasing tax on private transportation could reduce traffic jams on the roads. This essay will show how this is possible and how increasing the level of public transport could help in this situation.

Firstly, the increase of tax for private vehicles could decrease the congestion in the cities. Most of the people could opt for a more affordable way of transport. For example, public transportation should be the first option for a more affordable way of locomotion. Another option, for people that live close to their destinations, would be ride bicycles. The increase of the taxation could reduce car traffic.

Another way to decrease congestion would be an upgrade on the level of public transport. A reliable public transportation backed by the government could help on this matter. For instance, increase the number of buses and new routes all around the cities and adjacent suburbs could help reduce this situation. People would give up use theirs on cars and rely on public buses for transport.

In conclusion, increase tax would make people use alternative transportation and upgrading the level of public transport would be two good options to decrease congestions in the cities.
