GRE Essay Topic 862 - The following is a recommendation from the dean at Foley College, a small liberal arts college, to the president of the college. "Since college-bound students are increasingly concerned about job prospects after graduation, Foley College should attempt to increase enrollment by promising to find its students jobs after they graduate. Many administrators feel that this strategy is a way for Foley to compete against larger and more prestigious schools and to encourage students to begin preparing for careers as soon as they enter college. Furthermore, a student who must choose a career path within his or her first year of college and who is guaranteed a job after graduation is more likely to successfully complete the coursework that will prepare him or her for the future. " Discuss how well reasoned you find this argument.
Regarding this issue, the author of the argument claim students are worried to get job after leaving school so the headmasters should promise to find job for them as possible as the get graduates. And,he said that this solving is the best both college and students..Though the underlying issue certainly has merit, because of a lack of evidence, weak assumption, and vague terminology the author’s argument is unsubstantiated and deeply flawed.
The author has claimed college administer should enhance the rate of students by giving promise to find a job. However,he does not think the real situation. And,the arguments has not talk about who will do that? Moreover,it is not sure that all of students can find a lot of job for every students who attend in this college and teachers may be busy for their daily schedule so teachers cannot seek job for each student. So,the author has ignored to mention many important point. And then,he has not explain that which business is connecting with the college for job.
The second point on which the author is insisting that teachers, headmaster and principle of college believe that this system is great for students.he think that students will have more chance to ready for job when they to learn at school. However,it may be difficult for students who want to keep on learning other human studies. The student who want to students who want to study other subject are not willing to prepare for job because they are interest in education. So,the argument does not account of other students.
Moreover, the argument say that choosing a career path within in first semester can give aid for students because they will be skillful person at they work. However, the author has not given enough evidence for this proposal. For some student, this way is not suitable because they need to has opportunity to widen their knowledge about the world. And then, choosing a career path in first year is too early for the students who passed the matriculation exam because they are so young.moreover, they have not yet ability and skill to chose job .
In the end,the argument is trying to say giving a situation to get job after leaving school is the great way to develop administration for college. However,he has not provided any evidence to support his view. And then, the author’s assumption does not justify and need more detail information.
