Both books and experiments are very essential resourses. In my opinion, books is more important for us.
By its very nature, experiments and acumulation, is a shared enterprice. But obviously, to get the same knowledge, reading books can save us more time. None of us has the time, let alone the background knowledge required, to learn everythin on our own. Virtually, evething we know has come to us because someone else has taken the time to think about something, research it, and then share what she/he’s learned with us in an article or, more likely else a book.
To read about the research of others, and to bring together their edeas in such a way that makes sense to you , and will make sense to me. Books are valuable when knowledge is beyond the scape of our experiences. Perhaps the most obvious examples are those writers. They write diverse stories, the scopes of which are for beyond any individualo’s experiences. Take Shakespeare for example, his productivity has been prodigious, among the most famous are the plays and verses. Although some of them appear to come from her own direct observations, his dreams, his fears, much more is clearly from the experiences of others.
Equally important, the accumulation of knowledge can make our pritical experience, more scientific. Knowledge show us the shape of our directions, that is to say, our direct observations always are subject to our beliefs, hopes, fears, expectations and our bias, which might make observation unreliable. People vary in their powers of observations, and the reliability of our observations, is no better than the reliability of our memories, which as we know can be deceptive.
