GMAT Essay Topic 556 - "All groups and organizations should function as teams in which everyone makes decisions and shares responsibilities and duties. Giving one person central authority and responsibility for a project or task is not an effective way to get work done." To what extent do you agree or disagree with the opinion expressed above? Support your views with reasons and/or specific examples drawn from your own work or school experiences, your observations, or your reading.
The aforementioned issue of the way the organizations and groups should function either in a team in which everyone makes decisions and shares responsibilities and duties, or through one person as central authority, is contentious yet interisting and enticing. Many people beleive that working as a team and everyone sharing the responsbilities, the perspective that initialy seems logical and practical. Neverthless, when we weight this approach against the alternative one which is centralization, we see that there is several shortcomings that limit the effecacy of the first approach. Consedring this limitation, it becomes logical and practical to choose the second approach. keeping ground reality and practical difficulties in mind, i beleive that the organizationd should have one person as a central authority to be responsible at the end for taking the decision.
On the first hand, i beleive that the final decision should be in the hand of a wise person to organize the work effectivly. if we had alook on each country authority we will find only one person responsible whatever he was the president or the prime minister. so we have to ask ourselves why? is that’s because the country is decatorian or that person have a large experience allow him to take the right decision. the same applied on the organization the manager have a large experience in managing the organization.
On the other hand, if we leave the authority on the hand of group of people with different qualification, and different way of thinking, what i’m sure will happen that there will be many conflicts and finally no decision will be taking. in that case the organization will gain many losses in profits and in employees, because some of them will not stand that kind of work. The organization can hire many employees but all of them must work under one manager.
In conclusion, working under the authority of one person offers, organized work, right decisions, more profits, effective employees. therefore, i beleive that central authority offers comprehensive and coherent solution to the issue of the way the organizatiion should function.
