I both agree and disagree with the assertion. I consider that people can realize the civic affairs by watching proceedings shown on television and this can help us to supervise the government¡¦s working. However, everything publicized on television is just a part of government¡¦s whole operation and it is difficult to apprehend every aspects of the government.
To begin with, it is a powerful way to monitor the government¡¦s operation by watching proceedings on television. The government has complicate proceedings with different kinds and people can realize and learn some of them through watching the television. Thus, it is impossible for government to conceal everything from the public due to the presence of media.
However, the celebrities of government intend to pretend well-behaved on television. For example, it is impossible for televising the legislatives of congress everyday and probably three days a week. Hence, legislatives can perform excellently on the televised days. Some legislatives even complain the image on television is not pretty enough.
To sum up, it is definitely a useful method to supervise the government¡¦s manipulation through televising the proceedings. Also, it can assist the public to acknowledge more basics of the civic affairs. On the other hand, we can not judge the overall performance of government through the means of television, because these celebrities already know how to behave well on the television.
