Adolescence is one of the most important periods of a person`s life. During this time, teenagers learn several lessons that can affect the rest of their lives. At the same time, they are influenced by people who surrounding them.
Some people think that the family can influence the adolescents the most, while others argue that friends have the most important influence on them. In this essay, I will argue in favor of the viewpoint that friends have more influence on young adults than family.
First, teenagers spend most of their time with their friends. According to a recent study conducted by psychologists, adolescents spend very limited time with their parents, while spending more than half their waking time with other teenagers. The result is quite reasonable because parents have to work all day in their offices while their children study at school. Even on the weekend or holidays, teenagers would like to hang out with their friends more than to stay at home. Because of this fact, teenagers are more likely influenced by their friends.
Second, teenagers feel more relaxed with their friends than with their parents. They feel happy to get together with their friends. For instance, they can play around and share their thought and feelings together. These pleasure experiences are more attract than parental supervision. In my own experience, when I was a teenager, I prefer to exchange my thoughts and feelings with my best friends rather than with my parents.
In conclusion, teenagers spend most of their time with their friends and would like to exchange their feelings and thoughts with their friends than to talk to their parents. This fact means that teenagers rely on their friends more than their parents. As a result, I believe that friends have more influence on young adults than family.
